The president of the Kickboxing Federation of Montenegro, Ivan Strugar, points out that everything is ready for the start of the championship.
“We are honored and pleased to host such an event. Likewise, the organization bears a great responsibility, especially in the age of the coronavirus. We believe that the safety of all participants will be at a high level and we hope for a successful organization of the competition. As kickboxing became a full member of the Olympic family in July, the WAKO European Championship will be the first and great opportunity to promote Montenegro as a successful host of such an event. It will also be a kind of promotion of the city of Budva as an attractive tourist destination. The response is very good. We will host a large number of national teams. Competitors will compete in all seven disciplines of kickboxing in the ring and on the tatami (low kick, full contact, K1 Style, kick light, point fighting, light contact and musical forms). 20 athletes will play for our national team. There are great talents among them and already proven fighters at that age, so we hope for a good result and medals. We would like to thank the Directorate for Sports and Youth, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, as well as all others who helped the Kickboxing Federation in organizing the championship. ” – concluded Strugar.
The grand opening of the European Championship is on Sunday afternoon on the plateau of Slovenska plaža or in the Mediterranean Sports Center in Budva, depending on the weather conditions.
